EVS sends this sad story, and it's one of those times when an article really makes you feel like you knew the kid. Such a bright light. It's especially disturbing because you don't get a sense, as you sometimes do, that people were ignoring the situation or not paying attention to warning signs or anything like that. I think his mom, Kathy, got it right when she said, "I really think he was a depressed teenager that made a stupid choice." If the rope broke, he would've looked back on that attempt as an awful moment in a difficult adolescence. The fact that he succeeded is the tragedy -- a mistake.
The second-to-last paragraph made me cry.
Teen's suicide is a loss that can't be undone

wow.
This made me realize how lucky I am. My last attempt the rope broke after i was unconscious. I woke up on the ground and had soiled myself.
Now I am beginning to realize I still have a lot of living to do. And I regret this young man cannot do a lot of it as well.

I knew Michael, he was a dear friend of mine. I would give anything in the entire world to go back and stop him. anything. his memorial service was beautiful. i will never forget him. he will never feel pain again.

Not to uphold stereotypes or anything, but I wonder if he was gay and struggling with his sexuality. Either way it is tragic.

Michael was a very big part of my life, i knew him since we were kids and whenever he was having trouble with "things" hed always come over. He considered my family to be his "second family". I was one of few people that saw the other side of michael, the depressed side. When hed died i started reading books hed told my family and i we should read like Harold and maude and many others and so far all the books are about death and love. Honestly no one can say they "didn't see the warning signs about him wanting to commit suicide" hes attempted it about 2 times before this incident. I knew many things about michaels past that he never told anyone else and i can see why he felt so depressed. There are so many issues between people still proceeding after his death it's unbelievable...His death was tragic but he left this world knowing many people loved him.
