Bipolar headline of the day

Congress Appropriates $1 Million for Electro Energy's Bipolar NiMH Battery Development
Apparently, there's something called a "bipolar wafer cell." Is that like a cookie-phone designed for loony people? Can I communicate with my delusions with it? "This is Liz calling for EVERYONE IS STARING AT ME. Is he home?"
I want one.

Even funnier that it is a NiMH (nickel metal hydride) Battery versus NIMH as in National Institute of Mental Health

I would like mine vanilla flavored, please.
And I just want to go on the record as being that freaky person who had conversations with a nonfunctional cell phone years ago when those phones weighed 20 pounds in your purse or pocket - back in the day when we poked our eyes out with those retractable antennaes and we were grateful to have our eyes poked out and sometimes went so far as to poke our eyes on the way to and from school uphill both ways... I did all that just so it looked as though I was actually talking to a real live someone and not simply to *THEM* (oh yes indeed, you know to whom I refer).
I had no idea at the time that my pathetic attempt at passing *ahem* I mean, my very creative problem solving would blossom into the cell phone boon we now all love and could not imagine living without.

As evidenced by my serial comments I find your blog both fascinating and funny.
I have a lot of thoughts/questions but the one most relevant to your general audience is this: given your extreme sensitivity to media slights to the mentally ill I was taken aback by your use of the word "loony".( I think you have also used "crazy" to describe folks). As an outsider to fully blown psychotic experiences/antipsychotic medication (except for that weekend in Tijuana- drum riff), I am curious. Is your use of such words akin to Afro-Americans using the N-word while it's use is otherwise verboten? Or is it just that loony is a funner word than "psychotic"?

I have a migraine right now, so I can't really respond the way I'd like. But basically, I think we have to have a sense of humor about ourselves. That's my approach to life.

It sort of reminded me of the way my college buddies and I would call each other "jewboy" when we hung out. It was meant to be funny and self-deprecatory, but it spoke to our collective insecurity. I always thought I would be embarrassed if my gentile friends overheard us.
BTW I have since adopted the tougher/prideful name
"Louie the Latke".
Feel better.
