I hear ya, girlfriend

As a veteran of rehab and psych wards, I love this delightfully bitchy account from British jazz singer Amy Winehouse:

"I've been to a couple of rehabilitation centres before, whether it be for not eating properly, or drinking - everyone there just wants to talk about themselves all the time. The fella in charge said, 'Why are you here?' and I said, 'Well, I think I've come because I'm drinking a lot, but I'm in love, and the drinking is symptomatic of my depression. I'm not an alcoholic.' Although now of course I sound like I am. Anyway, he says to me, 'I'm a recovering alcoholic...' and I thought , 'You're not going to stop now, are you?' And he didn't! He just kept talking about himself... it was so boring. He goes, 'Do you want to just fill out this form and we'll see how you feel?' And I said, 'I don't want to waste your time, to be honest.'"

Hello...

As a white and blue collar (with a twist) - man - who can swallow a bit of whisky - I have something to say...

You girls need to get over this 'pink and pretty' shit - there a lot of good and straight men out there who are looking for straight women who are not into the Barbie and high maintenance 'daddie princess' garbage...

I love Amy Wineglass - I married 'offshore' - THANK GOD - I married a British pain in the ass and I am glad for every minute of it...

Thats right...

That pale green and housedress bullshit 1950's Americana - the shit we watched Lassie style - while the missile silos 'got dug' - is bullshit - it was the best lie yet for political drunkeness of a nattion...

I like REAL CHICKS for ahem - real pricks...

I AM SO SORRY - I am so incorrect - I might just go smoke a Pall Mall - or anything by appointment of the Queen - I turn in my Lacoste pink collar...

Amy Wineglass scares my gunnies into turtle position - but her voice raises my soul past the days hardship...

I have boats to design - but I love Amy Winehouse - I am glad for her music - I am glad for my passed out wife and for the work I have to do - wait a minute - just cranked Amy to 11...

Cheers...

SH.

Amy is real! I love her attitude, style, and voice! Swing it girl! Rock that attitude!

What I have still yet to figure out is where that voice comes from.

I don't listen to much music that circulates around the "in" crowd these days. I'm a video junkie, I peddle dvd's at a little local video store in Michigan, and I'm there everyday fighting off the pressures of un-namable online rental entities, so I try to filter out the latest fad, but god damn, I happened upon Amy Winehouse and haven't been able to take her out of the speakers at the store, in the car, and at home. I'm sure folks who visit the store will soon tire of my choice of music, but hey, it's my store so deal with it. To tell the truth, no one has complained, and actually complimented the music widely. I can't say much about her social exploits, but damn, people gotta live right! God knows I lost the diagrams for the perfect life a long time ago myself. My girlfriend and I fight like axis and allies, but no one can deny we love each other, and we sincerely appreciate those who mind their business.
one great big fan
